Kleins makes 100 different kinds of linemen’s which is ridiculous and it’s hard to tell which ones are the good ones. They should just make 2 at most. Professional and budget because I’ve always bought them and tbeee other tools but my latest linemen’s I paid $45 for and don’t like them

I went there yesterday to buy a set of wheel dollies. 64.99 for 2 1500 lb capacity wheel dollies. I noticed a a better set 3000 lb capacity for 79.99 but with the membership plan and the 10% off my first order I could have gotten them for about the same price and then I had the membership for free. Makes sense there but guess what happened when i took my items to the desk and proposed my plan after them telling me the details. I said ok, lets do it. I'll exchange this set for the 79.99 set. We go back to swap them and the better set was not in stock. Only the display pair. That didn't bother to much until I offered to take the display set and they said no.

I have warrantied at least 3 tools at HF. here recently I bought their ratcheting breaker bar and my dad broke it first use and I took it back and got a new one no issues. each time i warrantied a tool there I have had no issues. They are the same as sears used to be. I have met so many who have warrantied tools at HF with no issues when someone tells me they have issues with HF warranty it makes me suspicious. that being said, I warrantied a snapon ratchet with my local snapon dealer when I was a brand new diesel mechanic and the guy was a complete ass to me. He told me how he makes no money fixing broken tools and how snap on tools sells themselves and they are the best tools in the world. When I got tired of having to use him to warranty broken snap on tools, I tried to circumvent him to go to another dealer outside the area and that dealer wanted me to "whip out my credit card" to buy tools from him so he would warranty the tool. Snap on tools may be good tools but every dealer I have ever had to deal with is a complete POS. Honestly im wondering how they are still in business with dirtball dealers. I know its just my experience but everyone I spoke to in the trade that ever dealt with snap on dealers always had similar negative things to say about the dealers. all that being said, who do you think im going to buy from? HF and craftsman where I can wander the aisles looking closely at the products to determine if i need it with no rush or ridicule and a fraction of the cost of Snap on or the truck with the dealer being an ass who doesn't want me spending time shopping on the truck all while not warrantying tools and being sometimes more than 10x the cost. its a pretty easy calculous.

My nearest harbor freight is an hour away from me. We do have a Menards in the town I work so I got a set of their half inch impact sockets and they’ve been great. They go from 10 to 24 with only skipping the 23. I get a lot of their hand tools and like them.

I appreciate your honest review. However, I always understood lifetime to be the lifetime of the buyer. Is it supposed to be the lifetime for whoever owns it? 😂 I mean we have pre-historic tools ⚒️ that exist. How many people’s hands could it possibly be warrentied for?? Generations?

My first Ridgid was a curb find that I picked up, cleaned out and used. I liked the build quality of this relatively inexpensive machine where you can take the bottom off of the motor and clean it out and the same applies to the top. The only downside to that machine was it didn't take bags. It's still running and I still have it, thinking of giving it to my brother for detailing cars. If he wants it he can use it. He doesn't use bags so it's probably not an issue. I just received my new one today and I really like it. It's a bit smoother than the old one and accepts bags. It also came with the detailing kit and is the same price (for some reason) as the "stand alone" model, same machine, just without the detailing kit. I wanted the orange hose as I plan on buying the commercial cleaning nozzle kit with the steel wands that also works with this hose.

The benifit of a bigger tank is yes more room for air presure, but even better; the engine doesn't have to work as hard to pump the air into the tank resulting in a higher SCFM if you adjust your motor properly.

I like how Icon went after Snap-on with now shame but the V-Series craftsman ratchets are a smoother performing ratchet when you put the Icon head to head to craftsman v series ratchet.

I have no brand loyalty and doing mobile work I try to find a cheaper version to carry if it works. I usually get the brand the tools are competing against and try them and if the icon works almost as good I will carry them so I don’t lose my snap on or more expensive versions. I still carry a lot of brand name tools because if they work better to the point I can’t efficiently use the knock off

I think you understand marketing but I don't think you understand the psychology of it. It's the idea, "Man, I'm getting a deal. " It's the searching through your coupons and looking at the "specials" that Inside Track club members get. That's what's fun. Also, you get a little rush knowing your are smarter and more desirable than these schmucks that aren't members of the Inside Track Club. Think about it. Do people go hunting deer most of the time because they're hungry? No. They usually spend more money than if they bought deer meat. It's the journey, not the destination.

Back when I was turning wrenches for a living, I owned a lot of Snap-On tools. I liked the design of the screwdrivers, but the tips had a bad habit of shattering. I eventually settled on Mac screwdrivers. The handle design wasn't as nice, but the metallurgy was better. Nowadays, I'm more of a Tekton fanboy. Good quality, without the tool truck prices. Icon tools are nice too.
